  This is an amazing report, I’ve just found it. My father was a Welshman, I’m sure he worked at this pit and was a lift operator and he told me when I was a child about this explosion and how he frantically tried to get the cage up but the blast took him off his feet and blew him 20/30 yards across the top and all his teeth were smashed out. A huge tragedy.He lost friends here and knew many people who lost family members. My fathers name was Freddie Green. Many thanks. Rose

  hi Elaine apologies for the late reply we have only recently taken over the running of the page . there is a minors memorial garden at the bottom of cwm not far from the location of the old pit site , which has a statue of a minor and the names of the minors that died in the disaster. Thanks for the interest
